Things to do in Sitka, Alaska
Sitka Summer Music Festival
Showcasing classical chamber music, the internationally assembled musicians perform here for a month-long series of concerts and other events. A must go! The Festival is only here for the month of June so plan ahead!
Sitka National Historic Park
Locally known as "Totem Park", the park is one of our favorite places to visit! It features a walking path with hand-carved totem poles along with two excellent cultural museums and a Tlingit battlefield. This park is loaded with history.
Alaska Raptor Center
The Raptor Center treats between 100-200 injured birds each year. Many are nursed back to health but those who don't fully recover remain housed at the Center's outdoor displays. More than 36,000 visitors travel here each year to experience this remarkable facility.
St. Michael's Cathedral
The Cathedral is located in the middle of Lincoln Street in the heart of downtown Sitka. It was originally built in the 1840's, but was tragically destroyed by fire in January 1966. Many of the religious artifacts were salvaged and are currently housed in the chapel. One of the most photographed buildings in Sitka!
